Mosaicsystem: PKM 248

The Pro-Plan Mosaicsystem PKM 248 is a very flexible plastic gridsystem with front tiles in the standardsizes 24x24, 24x48, 48x48mm.

The PKM 248 system was developed as a result of many years experience in mosaic mimic technology.

The components from our other systems, for example: mechanical components, LEDs, incandescent lamps, pushbuttons and switches are compatible. New components will be developed from time to time and we welcome ideas from our customers.

Principle ideas for the development of the PKM 248 system were:

- maximum flexibility
- lightweight construction
- modern system in modern mosaic technologies
- same system for heavy construction and standard mosaic construction

The 2 components of the PKM 248 grid are strips (24 and 48mm types) and pins which are connected to form a composite grid.
For most mosaics this construction is strong enough for all normal mechanical demands.
Mounting the pins from the back and the mosaic tiles from the front produces additional stability. Further rear mounted mechanical components (support channels and extruded profiles) are available for higher stability.
With a special chemical welding-process the grid system can be further enhanced for the highest mechanical demands. This produces a seismic approved mosaic and is used for instance in nuclear installations.

The standard construction grid is very flexible. Strips and pins can be removed and installed any number of times. In this way changes, expansions and modifications can be carried out simply and economically. Special tools are available for removing and installing pins and strips. This system is very suitable for mosaics with a bezel or border surround.
The fixing method of the grid in the Pro-Plan Frame extrusion allows the use of all tile positions in the mosaic grid for active components whilst also being useful for small and compressed mosaics.
Most components can be used in the PKM 248 system, for example : LEDs, incandescent lamps, pushbuttons, switches, analog and digital meters and more. All DIN-based instruments (DIN 43700) can be mounted without problems in this grid system. For heavy instruments (such as chart recorders or controllers) a rear mounted mechanical support is provided.
